Best Neighbourhoods to Live in Berlin

Berlin is a great place to live. In addition to the nice people, the city is in a constant buzz, with numerous activities to engage in. There are excellent neighbourhoods to choose from to live in Berlin, depending on your preferences. It is undoubtedly a fantastic city to snuggle into, especially for expats, as it is lively and welcoming and will not let you get bored.

Berlin offers a wide assortment of accommodations, including hotels and rental apartments, at a variety of pricing points and atmospheres. Massive urban regeneration initiatives have resulted in the construction of gigantic

buildings and the gentrification of public spaces, permanently changing ancient neighbourhoods into sought-after spots to reside in Berlin.

Yet, many of the city’s neighbourhoods and suburbs continue to have their own unique appeal. Despite the fact that the Berlin Wall collapsed more than 20 years ago, the city’s infrastructure and architecture nevertheless bear the scars of the city’s four decades of division.

Although it depends on which Berlin areas you choose, historically Berlin has had lower rents than other significant European capital cities. In some parts of Berlin, prices have been rising recently, but if you’re coming from a major capital city like London or Amsterdam, you might be shocked by what you can afford. Berlin has some of the nicest neighbourhoods to live in. Mitte, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg, Wedding and Potsdam are just a few of them.

Mitte

One could say Berlin’s heart resides in Mitte. Mitte is where all the action happens. It never gets old here. There are tons of eateries, pubs, and cafes in

addition to all the other tourist attractions in Mitte. It is also easy to find furnished apartments to rent in Mitte.

Friedrichshain

Living in Friedrichshain can be a lot of fun. There are always things to do, and it is crowded with young people. Friedrichshain can be called the Y-town if you please; it’s where the youth hang out.

Prenzlauer Berg

Prenzlauer Berg is a stunning neighbourhood usually preferred by young families. It is as stylish and charming as it is peaceful. If you want to be close to the activity but not right in the middle of it, this is a terrific area to reside in.

Kreuzberg

Berlin’s up-and-coming neighbourhood of Kreuzberg is swiftly rising to the top of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods list. You have the action, the entertainment and the perfect blend of fun and sun (not in the winter; it just rhymed well!)

Wedding

Wedding is the old school peaceful town for families to settle in. It is a remarkable neighbourhood that has all the necessities and amenities close by. Although it is a little more residential than some of the other areas, it is still near to everything going on (the action we mean of course!)

Potsdam

Potsdam is a lovely city, only a short train journey away from Berlin. If you want to get away from the bustle of the city, this is the ideal spot to live. Potsdam is calm, peaceful and offers you the serenity some of you desire, even in the midst of a bustling city and chaotic lives.

Accommodation is one of the most important factors to consider while moving into any town or city. Berlin boasts housing options for everyone, including mansions and student squats. It’s a good idea to explore the communities you’re thinking about on foot because neighbourhoods can differ from street to street. There aren’t many unsafe districts, but some are noticeably noisier—or more alive, if you prefer—due to late-night clubs that stay open until dawn, when businesses open for the day. Because Berlin is a highly sought-after city, it is often not easy to find a place of your own, that you can call home. Buying a place is not the best option for expats in Berlin or in any parts of Germany for that matter. Renting apartments is the most effective way to live in the city. Apartments for rent in Berlin can be found easily, depending on your needs and location.
